The military can execute a criminal for rape or desertion. Treason is also a capital offense. None of these things involve killing a person, and desertion and treason might not involve any physical harm at all.
At any rate, you're still being very selective in your arguments. In the OP I laid out a series of reasons why the death penalty should be abandoned, and have only addressed one or two of them, and unconvincingly at that. Additionally, you have failed to make a convincing argument why life imprisonment without parole is not a sufficient punishment for the worst crimes.
The only thing you mentioned in the op is cost, which i already addressed. And as i said, i don't support capital punishment for crimes like rape, desertion, or treason. Actually, child rape is death penalty worthy. Either way though, I'm really not trying to prove anything, I'm just stating my opinion that i support the current laws regarding that. You on the other hand are trying to prove that the death penalty is wrong, and as of now I don't think you've proven your point.

Did Garmin announce any products at Macworld? There were rumors a few days ago. Haven't found anything new though.

I honestly don't care....my upgrade date was timed almost perfectly with the release of the iPhone 4 last year (Upgraded in late July once the damn phone was actually available without having to beat up hipsters in line IIRC), and unless they offer early upgrade deals better than what they have the last couple of years, I wouldn't be eligible to upgrade anyway. The iPad has taken up all of my iOS gaming, so really all I need an iPhone to do is be an iPod and use reference apps on the go (maps, wikipedia, soundhound, imdb, recipes, safari, banking, ebay, amazon, etc). Maybe one or two small games for Dr's office waiting rooms like Tiny Wings or Angry Birds, but I'm pretty sure the iPhone 4 will be able to handle that demanding load for years to come....
I'm even open to an iPhone lite- I don't need a powerhouse in my pocket and if I save some money, good deal.

So sad to see cars getting huge front and rears, and the trunk and hoods seem to be 1 ft+ above the wheel wells. Ugly IMO. Bring back low slung cars like the older Jags...
I'll buy used before getting something bloated like above. (though I prefer to buy used anyway....)So sad that cars in that price range are STILL only 200ish HP.... Though to be honest, I hate when people speed in a non-sports car....

if he is 18 you can't do **** about it. You can force him to pay rent thou ^_^
and if the girl isn't 18 yet, then it is rape Erm.. no. Over here, the consenting age is 16, which is what it is most of europe, and, iirc, the US. Yes, that's right. You have to be 16 to have sex, but 18 to watch other people have sex

Good to see some more development on this. I guess a lot of the large software makers are largely feeling their way at the moment but we could get some amazing products in the next few years.

I agree with most comments, the claims by Samsung seem a stretch. I live in Korea and the Koreans are very loyal to local suppliers and Samsung is not happy with how successful the iPhone is in Korea. Even the local prefer the iPhone over the Samsung phones in Korea. After living here a few years I will never buy Korean products again. They are great at copying, and keeping it all within the country even if it increases cost. I hope Apple succeed in finding other suppliers but I think so many companies have helped Samsung get to big and dominant so it will be hard to find memory and cpu suppliers other than Samsung.
I have used Samsung phones in Korea, they are not great - My Nokia was way better than every Samsung phone I ever had. Samsung phones JUST work, they do not perform. My new iPhone looks better, performs (speed and application wise) better than the Samsung phones I have owned but it drops more calls. Here's an example of how much Koreans refuse to accept Apple, You cannot use a Mac in Korea and do internet shopping or banking. Every website requires a special active X control that only works in IE.
Even in Korea the locals know Samsung copied Apple, when you go to electronics markets the sales people try sell Samsung products saying its "just like Apple iPad/iPhone/iPod and its Korean made so its better"
I really hope Samsung get burnt on this one.

So I'm sitting here watching Simpsons DVD and listening to the keynotes in the background (for the first time) and about 4:30 minutes into the first video on the apple website, he says something that I had to replay over and over just to see if I heard it correctly.
About 4:28 minutes into the video he says
"2007, is going to be a great year for the Mac....but this is all we're gonna talk about the Mac today. We're gonna move on to some other things, over the course of the next several months we're gonna roll out some awesome stuff for the Mac. But for today, we're gonna move on."
I was glue to my screen during the time macrumorslive.com was up (and seriously guys, congrats on the photo and keynote updates by the minute, I would never personally take on such a task). Here is what I think threw everybody off into thinking that Mac and software was going to be talked about today in the keynotes:
9:18 am we're only talking about the mac today
which can be interpreted both ways. So yes things are going to be coming up very soon for the Mac, and maybe even a separate meeting or interview or some way to get to the masses that the new product lines are up. But it seemed like today's keynotes (and my first one I've ever followed) were all about the future of Apple (both financially and technologically). It was about Apple making its own little "footprint".
I think splitting up the product introductions was a better idea than one might figure. Snag some people into buying iPhone, AppleTV, and when the dust settles from the sales, allow people to regroup, pay off the credit card, and throw out a new/upgraded line of products, just in time to wipe the floor with Vista! Spring its just a little more than 2 months away. It took me all day to calm down after not hearing about Leopard in the keynotes, but this has to be why they didn't mention this. Hell, Macworld was on CNN tonight because of the iPhone, not because of Leopard or AppleTV or vPod. After word gets around by this CONFIRMED Apple product, people are going to take a serious look at other Apple product lines and see what else is to offer. That's when they should upgrade everything else, within the next two months.
Do I have Apple marketing tactics pegged or what? :)

Kids should have a level of respect for their parents that keeps them from having sex if their parents feel they should not I think that having sex against the wishes of a parent is disrespectful to a degree.
I agree. Id make it legal for people to consent to sex at a younger age but I also feel that parents need to retain the authority to withhold their consent for a 16year old to go out if they cant trust their child to behave responsibly. It takes trust, respect and responsibility on the part of both parent and child. I think the subject needs to be more openly discussed, say my 14year old son wants to consent to sex with his 14year old girlfriend, there shouldnt be any reason that I cant call up the girls parents to talk it through before I let him out to a party etc.
Personally I don't think most 18 year olds are emotionally mature enough to maintain a sexual relationship - they tend to be too self centered and shortsighted about what they are doing. I know several couples that got together at a very young age, some on purpose and others as the result of an "accident" child. None of them, I think, are very happy with the decision they made
I too know couples whove been together since a young age having been caught out and who arent happy with their situation. However I know some that are very happy and some that are unhappy having waited until they were older and planned a family but have grown apart for other reasons etc. etc.

Dang! That is true.
Thinking it out:
Stick = Up/Down
Bottom Red = Reverse
Right-Botton Black = Thrust
Right-Top Black = Fire
Top White = Smart Bomb
Bottom White = Hyperspace
On Stargate you could assign one of the others to the Stealth mode button too.
They NEED 2 versions of iCade - one with joystick, the other with a Trackball and Knob... ;)

Or they did a lot of stuff with it already, just not showing it yet. Since the current release of FCP does not use QTX, they don't need to release the updated API before the next gen FCP. I really doubt Apple just shelved the whole QTX after doing a rewrite for SL, they must have been iterating it since then.
It's a bit long, but this is a good read about the state of FCP by Philip Hodgetts (http://www.philiphodgetts.com/2010/09/what-should-apple-do-with-final-cut-pro/):
There has been no apparent development of the QTKit framework for at least two years. What has been happening, as I posted in Introducing AV Foundation and the future of QuickTime, is a lot of work has been completed for media frameworks for iOS. AV Foundation in four years has 56 Classes and 460 methods.
That AV Foundation is to replace QTKit and the C APIs is a good thing because my reading of the Framework, Classes and Methods is that an AV Foundation based QuickTime would be able to support native media, something the current version cannot do. (Everything pretty much needs to be wrapped in a .MOV container.)
And about Premiere being better than FCP, I'm not an expert on this but aren't the Apple ProRes codecs the main reason people go with FCP? And Premiere does not offer anything close in terms of codecs.
A very big reason people go w/FCP is because it can do a lot for very little money. If it was priced more in line with Avid Media Composer or Avid Adrenaline I'll bet dollars to doughnuts it wouldn't have become as popular. Apple's typical method of operation when it comes to the ProApps is buy existing software, rebrand it and drop the price dramatically. The most recent, and most radical example, is Apple Color. Apple took what was previously a $25,000 color grading application and tossed it into the Final Cut Suite at no extra charge.
ProRes has only be around since FCP 6 and is one of the few additional features that Apple can really hang its hat on. While Premiere doesn't have any first part codecs along the same lines as ProRes it is more flexible and open to third party codecs than FCP is. A very good, and very popular, 3rd party codec is CineForm.

The front end issues will likely continue for most of the season, it seems to be a trait with the bike, not a setup problem.

maybe because, often, it's not even an issue ... until the media makes it an issue.
Heh. This non-incident reminds me the good old days of SNL when Gilda Radner played Emily Litella (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_Litella) in the Weekend Update segment. Emily couldn't hear very well and would always misunderstand the issue du jour. After Emily's weekly misunderstanding was cleared up, she would end each segment with a meek little, "Never mind."
NBC has a great little sample, violins on television (http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/emilys_editorial_reply/1156891).
It would be stellar if Al Franken would say, "Never mind," in the Senate. That would be funny.

Where does he say that he does not like the Financial Time? The point is, he does not like that the Financial Times sells the address to junk mailers, and I also must agree with it. Unfortunately there is these day not too much choice since you often don't know who is putting you on those lists - I found out about some due to typos in my unusual name that they had made in my subscriptions and I got junk in the good old paper mail to the 'wrong' name. But usually you don't know who sells your name and it is good if you have an option where you don't you are not put on stupid paper wasting junk lists. - FT does not need my name and/or address.
You can opt out, see post 29 (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=12323740&postcount=29).
